Wood is an enduring medium to express artistic creativity. There is a satisfaction from walking into the shop, cutting dovetails or smoothing wood and seeing your design take shape. It isn't about using tools, but rather working the wood - seeing what lies inside the bark. It is also about craftsmanship that extends beyond actually working the wood: designing, picking lumber, milling, joinery, and finishing (not to mention learning the techniques can take years or an entire lifetime to hone).
Woodworking is a skill requiring precision and pre-planning. Measure twice and cut once. When all your hard work has paid-off, though, what you make can last generations.
